Feelin' FALL w/ a new TEETHER TOY

Friday September 24, 2010
With the new Fall Season that's now OFFICIALLY amongst us and with all of the "Fall Inspiration" and "Feelings and Smells of Fall" that doing the Fall Puyallup Fair brought to our attention the other night, yesterday to ring in the new season I brought out some seasonal Autumn decorations and placed a good old fashion scare crow and pumpkins on the front  porch. Then, thanks to Matt's grandmother- we have a huge set of this Fall Colored depression glass.  I have always loved the arts when it comes to collecting any glass or pottery work, I enjoy incorporating them into my decorating with different colors for different seasons.  So this year, I pulled out some Fall colored table coverings from the linen closet laid them over the dining room table and topped them with some of Grandma's glass-goodies including a cake platter then placed a water goblet along with a few sherbet and pudding dishes on top and filled them with colorful fall candies.  I also filled the butter dish and the real candy bowl with fall tid-bits and then placed two bigger goblets upside down for the table's candle holders, whallah- a fun-fall table center piece on a dime.
Brooklynne loves to kn-awe on corn on the cob! Although, with only two bottom teeth in place more than likely not too much of the actual corn makes it into her tummy but with her top teeth that are "oh so close" to popping through any second...(they'll come down and go back up and repeat, repeat...they just need to break through ALREADY, she hasn't been sleeping well at all.) Anyways, the corn on the cob makes for an EXCELLENT teether toy and it keeps Brooklynne happy for quite awhile!  By the way, thanks for the cute Bracelets Leah- Brooke hasn't let us take the Fall colored one off since we put it on...very cute!

60 years...a Love worth CELEBRATING!

Grandma & Grandpa Cordle's
60th Wedding Anniversary
September 25, 2010
We had the celebration over in Lacey at Grandpa's home (an assisted living center.) This was the first time our family had ever been through Lacey and it's quite a nice and cute city and the living center where grandpa was living (I believe he's moving to a different one this week since his needs are changing so a center where they are better able to attend to his needs more specifically.) But this place was way nice, when Matt and the kids heard it was to be at "an elderly home" they were a bit weary....we all know and have seen or heard of the stories of elderly homes that make us cringe, the elderly and inevitable to us all...bless their hearts but the kids were pleasantly surprised and it was an enjoyable evening for all of us.
)
Some fun family pics and collages that Grandma had put together.
The Cake up close, "Happy 60th Anniversary Herbert and Barbara!" Surrounded by sprinkled chocolate kisses.
.
Cutting the cake mmmm- it was a tastey one, half of  it was white w/ raspberry filling and the other half had chocolate w/ fudge filling covered with whipped frosting- my kind of cake!
Mom, her sister Vicki and Jeana planned and carried out the menu of Lasagna, bread sticks, salads and fresh fruit to feed the hungry stomachs.

Time to eat, the boys found the juke-box a fun toy. I believe Grandma herself headed up the colorful table coverings and flower center pieces that added that extra splash of "happiness" to the occasion!
Some of the littlest kiddos with their Great Grandma and my cousin Jennifer holding Sarah's (my other cousin & her sisters little guy) the newest addition to the family.
We snapped a few photos with the sisters and my mom with the little love-birds on their anniversary.
This was our attempt to get a group photo, my camera could have stood to be pushed back a bit further to get the family on the edges pushed in a bit more or the ones in the back spaced out a bit more, but for the most part we are all in it..at least an arm or a leg or a portion of a their head, ha ha.  It was fun to see the family who had came up from Utah (my aunt and uncle Vickie and Kevin and 3 of their 5 kids, Jennifer, Sam and Sarah with her husband and three kids) along with the rest of the extended family that lives a bit closer to our neck of the woods, it's always nice to get the family together to catch up even if it's just for a short visit- we'll take what we can get! I have to say that SIXTY years is quite the accomplishment, through thick and thin- congratulations is definitely in order! We love you Grandma and Grandpa Cordle.

Game On with the POWER TOOLS...

With work and jobs, callings, chauffeuring, and just plain family life duties in general, free time to just dink around seems few and far between- if there are a few minutes here or there most likely there is really something out of necessity that needs to be done inside or outside of the home (maintenance speaking.) This getting up at 6:00am thing (thanks to a middle school student) has really turned out to be a nice thing for me, the rest of the family gets up at 8:00am so after Jarom jumps on the bus at 6:30am, I'm able to have a little "me" time- usually a shower, scripture reading, or a bit of exercise or even deep house-cleaning (kid-free...goes so much faster w/o interruptions) and of course blogging which is really my journaling- but so much funner than the typical writing in a journal days.  I am really not a morning person, Brookie still wakes up a few times a night and there are many times I tell myself "I am soooo going back to bed after I get lunches made and Jarom off to school" but by the time he's out the door I am wide awake and ready to get my day on, so it's a good thing!  Alright, so speaking of dinking around with free time- Matt's "Me/Free Time" is LATE at night on the weekends- so lately he's been doing a bit of restoration work on an arcade game, a Mario Brothers arcade that he's been toying with in the garage.  Him and the boys have been having a hay-day with this project.  And of course we all know Matt, who is destin to some day own a "Family Fun Center Chain" of his very own...maybe if he has anything to do with it in the walls of our very own home...(not if I have anything to do with it...but it's starting to look like it w/ all of these big boy arcades...) We are both quite frugal people, some would like to call us "penny pinchers" but when it comes to games and fun centers for some reason Matt is always the first to drop a pretty penny at those places for the kids (and himself) to have fun times together, it's just him- they love it though.  So, back to my story- the two little ones and I had hit up Costco the other day to mainly pick up makings for dinner and a pair of boots for Brooklynne (thanks Sarah for the tip) and we decided to look around for a few early Christmas shopping opportunities for the kids cousins since we have already drawn names- I saw this little Black and Decker tool set that looked so realistic and cute and thought it'd be perfect for one of the boy cousins, it has a saw, a measuring tape, a leveler, goggles, a couple of drills, flash light, ect it's a complete set...anyways, needless to say- Josh had a different idea, he fell in love and wanted the tool set for himself!  With Matt working in the garage with all of the power tools Josh has been right there with Matt under his feet giving all of his little efforts and help and his eyes just completely lit up with the thought of his very own tool set.  I couldn't resist, I told him we'd get it for his b-day (in November) but he'd have to wait to open it until then.  Long story short, we took it home and for a little three year old boy- there was just NO waiting two months, so after a bit of bribery for good behavior, he landed himself an early b-day present and many late hours in the garage with daddy and the boys...this time he has a power tool set of his own...GAME ON!!!

No more fun choo choo park nights!

September 17, 2010
Jarom's soccer practice has been through the summer consistently at the Terminal Park school soccer fields in Auburn and it has been great fun for the other little kids on the evenings when we will end up staying while he practices for the hour and 1/2, they have a couple of different fun park options with their recent favorite the Terminal Park "Choo Choo" one we walk to across the street.  It is a GREAT park!  Josh meets up with his buddy/cousin Peyson and they have a great time playing together, (it has been a good set up for me as well since Harrison is playing on Jarom's team this year, Wendy and I are able to chat on the benches as the kids play.)  Too bad we live in two different cities & directions because otherwise we could have car-pooled, which would have been even cooler!  Anyways, the coach just changed the location of the practices to a larger full field with actual real playing goals, in reality it will be nice to practice on the actual size the boys play games on and it is RIGHT next to Matt's Radiant Refinishing shop which on some nights may end up being quite convenient but there are absolutely no kid-playing parks around at all...so sad!  We'll miss our parks for sure.
WHAT'S UP DOC?
As I was looking through photos, I found these pictures of Spencer and Josh with their friend Mitchell, it was funny because they had picked carrots from the garden one day and brought them back into the house to wash them up then they were pretending the be rabbits down on the ground eating their carrots, it was funny!

School's Back In Session

BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHT
School Year 2010-2011, September 2010
The week before school started the kid's elementary school always has an open house/ meet the teacher night, the kids are always anxious to officially meet their new teachers for the year.
Spencer now in 1st grade w/ Mrs. Argo and Ellie in 3rd grade with Mrs. Nazelrod
BreAnna our 5th grader with Mr. Lopez.  This year it's nice since we are familiar with all the the kids teachers pretty much being that our kids are just working their way up the ladder and following in their past siblings teachers.
THE FIRST DAY
Jarom, yes we are in Middle School now.  I didn't think as a mom I'd be quite so emotional about the whole middle school jump but our first born is now stepping up to the next stage of the public school system and the reality of "growing up is inevitable" really hit home this past week.  Jarom now catches the bus at 6:30am with the other middle and high school kids which is two hours earlier than the year before and quite the adjustment for him and me for that matter since I typically make lunches in the morning. (I know as parents we wish we could put "clear play"...(we have the clear play dvd player which is heaven sent) anyways I wish there was a clear play for the words that come out of some of those kids potty-mouths so our kids won't have to be exposed to them, Jarom has already came home with some stories...but like they say- in one ear and out the other, it will give Jarom a chance to set a good example I suppose.)  This is the first year that Jarom has cared about having any say about his school clothes and the shoes he wears but he now knows exactly what he likes and dislikes to wear with the brands and styles of clothes, oh I remember those days! Besides the nerves and whole adjustment thing he is REALLY liking middle school, his schedule and all of the perks that come along with it.
Miss BreAnna is so much more confident going into this year and being at the head of the school as a 5th grader.  She had a few anxiety issues last year which probably stemmed from the struggles she has in reading that caused stomach problems that weren't fun to deal with but this year so far we are free flowing and by the sounds of things she is really enjoying her class and helping out the teacher as a responsible student.  She was selected as one of the three leaders to help with the younger kids making sure they find their way to the buses after school.  She was excited that Friday being the first Friday of the first year the 5th graders got root beer floats with many flavors of soda, orange, 7-up, ect. and they have already started the DARE program the drug and alcohol resistance program.

Bre and Hannah best of friends in duo outfits on the first day of school and then Bre and Ellie on the second day, they looked too cute I snapped another pic of the girls.
Ellie all excited about the first day of school.  I drove the kids up to school on the first day of school and walked them to all of their individual classes showing them where to go and which doors to enter the next morning after they got off the bus.  They ride the same bus with the same stops and routine as last year so we didn't think there would be any issues.  Not so true with Ellie, on the second day of school- Ellie went to the door I instructed her to go through (only the kid's bus is like the last bus to get to school, they pick our kids up and drive around the country-side for another half an hour picking up other kids out the other direction and then head back the same direction to the school which leaves me wondering why they don't just pick my kids up on the trip back???..another story) but anyways so the kids are pretty much the last kids to get to school, so the door that's by the 3rd grade cubbys was locked that Ellie was supposed to go through and the teachers were no longer standing there to let the kids in, so Ellie ran around to the front door of the school and tried to go through it and the principal was out there and told her that she couldn't come through that door w/o an adult (it's a rule and policy) but to go to her outside class room door...well she couldn't find it, got lost and was almost in tears because the bell had rung and she was panicking because school was starting- she finally ended up following another student into a door and found her class room but she came home quite stirred up and distraught over the whole traumatic situation.  It was a very dramatic scene of emotions that day after school, poor Ellie! The next morning I drove the kids up to the school again and rectified the door situation so we are HAPPY to say we are now good to go. Door issues aside, she does like her new teacher and is having fun meeting new friends since most of her good friends were placed in the other 3rd grade class.
Then there's Spencer our big 1st grader.  He is so laid back about school and in his eyes he just goes with the flow when in reality he is the silent leader of the pack, he's such a good kid!  He was THRILLED that the 2nd day of school because he lost his FIRST tooth at school and he landed a really cute little tooth holder and sticker from Mrs. Argo to take home and even cooler- the Tooth Fairy came to him for the very first time!  Then the funny thing is that the very next day he lost another tooth, the bottom tooth next to the first one he had just lost.  That night he was super excited to wait up all night to see the Tooth Fairy because some kids at school had told him that the tooth fairy wasn't real and he was confident he was going to set the record straight one way or another!  The first night being the special first tooth lost, the Tooth Fairy had given him some new Transformer PJs and $5.00, so here he is the 2nd night wearing his new pjs ready to pull an all nighter waiting up for the Tooth Fairy.

Last but certainly not least our little Pre-School boy Josh!  So excited to go to Spencer's past preschool at Miss Cindy's (she's a member of the church in Auburn over where we used to live who started up her own pre school in her home, it's gotten so big that she now has a morning and afternoon class.)  It's only twice a week on Tues. and Thurs. for 2 1/2 hours but it's good for him to have something he does of his own.  He is dragged to and fro here to there when we do soccer, scouts, dance, activity days and such with the older siblings so I feel it's important for him to have this outlet.  I know some moms put their kids in preschool for themselves to get that sanity time but it's not quite that direction for me (being in the afternoon and not too close to home, in the middle of Brookers nap time, it'll take a bit of an adjustment but we'll make it work- we swang it for Spencer and Miss Cindy does such a great job and has such a fun program for the kids, it'll be fun for Joshie and the best part is that he'll be making friends and learning at the same time!)

Well there we have it another school year back in full swing, School is officially in SESSION!

Labor Day~Cheryl's (aka mom & grandma's) Birthday Celebration

September 2010
Happy Birthday Cheryl
Eating some late lunch and setting the party up...
Did we mention that these two are expecting??? and congrats Mike and Ashley!
While we were setting up, Kimmie took Cheryl out to do a little of pampering with this and this.
Some of the Littlest of Party-Goers, so happy to celebrate grandma's birthday!!!
Stephanie asked me to head up the games for her mom's party and thanks to "Minute to Win it" planning them was a no brainer!
Pin the Tail on the Donkey for the kiddos.
B I N G O and  bingo was his name-o!
Gotta love this one...
And Jake came out victorious!
They must make this one look easier on TV because I don't think the guys landed any of their bottled waters face up on the table but it did end up turning into a bit of a water fight.
Where's grandma behind all those kids??? Singing a happy b-day w/ some cupcakes and cheese cake.
Present time!
And the girls did a finale cat tribute to grandma to bring the evening (and summer break) to an end.....Then it was back home for our fam to get all ready for the first day of school bright and early the next morning!
