So Moms Turn Into Cows?!

November 26, 2008Today during lunch as Ellie was drinking her milk, she says "so milk is made from cows?" (We've had the meat discussion of ham and how it comes from pigs and chicken & turkey and how that meat comes from the birds ect. and it's kind of grossed the kids out thinking that the animal has to die before we can eat them, anyways that's a whole different story) So she was thinking that we were actually drinking the cow (guess it's been awhile since we've been to the Puyallup Fair Dairy Dept.) until I explained that no, just like moms after they have babies they produce milk to feed the babies, cows produce milk for us to drink. Then Spencer starts laughing and says, "so moms turn into cows?!" Then he laughed a bit more along with the rest of us then he added "no, I'm just kidding but wouldn't that be funny?!"

Happy Thanksgiving!

November 25, 2008 In the car this morning, Matt had left the radio tuned to the Michael Medved am talk radio station (I swapt out the family car for his yesterday so the oil could get changed at the shop before we leave for Idaho for Thanksgiving) anyways, I caught the very tail end of a discussion about children and public school and if they should be allowed to dress up as Indians for Thanksgiving, apparently due to racism or affended parents of some sort. I just turned it off, I get so tired of all the up tightness & politically correct stuff I quickly changed the station back to my 106.9 Christmas sounds of the season tunes that I've already started listening to. Ironically enough, this is how I picked Spencer up from his pre-school this afternoon- fully dressed up in his own hand-made Indian/Pilgram attire, very fitting for the Thanksgiving Holiday...Wishing you all a very Happy Thanksgiving!

We have a WEBLOW & our weekend.

November 4, 2008
At the November Pack Meeting Jarom received his Advancement Bear Badge (along with quite a few others that he had earned over the summer,) way to go Jarom! Now he is an official Weblow. I remember when Matt and I were first married Matt taught the Weblows...the boys seemed so big back then and now we have one of our own. Jaroms Weblow Den also put on this puppet show that they had made puppets for, get a load of Jaroms sock puppet...he was really proud of it, it makes me laugh when ever I see it! The Jackson sisters and mom Cheryl put on a baby Shower over at Sarahs home for Stacie over the weekend, she got quite a bit of "sweet pink" baby items for baby Mazie Lynn who's due here really soon. After the shower, many of the girls went to the NKOTB (New kids On The Block) concert that evening. Heavens knows I've been to my fair share of their past concerts back in the days...It would have been fun to go with them but with the holidays and busy b-day months, the pocket book wasn't too giving to the ticket price. I haven't heard yet but I'm certain they all had a great time, they were planning on crimping their hair and going in full neon big hair 80's fashion...I'm excited to see pics ladies! For the shower, I had the opportunity to get the sewing machine out! For some reason the fall season always puts me in a sewing mood...so thank you Stacie for giving me a reason to sew something. Spencer helped to pick out the fabric and one afternoon while Josh was napping with a bit of help from Spencer, I made up a warm blankie w/ matching burp towels. Saturday morning after running a few errands and dropping Jarom off at his friend Laytons for the day, I picked the girls up from a b-day sleepover and headed straight to the shower since the girls were old enough to be one of the big girls and join in the shower fun. Ellie wasn't feeling very well so she ended up laying down with her blankie and pillow watching the shower (I guess it was a good thing we had her blanket and pillow in the car from the sleepover.) Matt ended up staying home w/ Ellie & her very high temp and Josh with his runny nose (he's teething) Sunday during church and Ellie slept the majority of the day, she was just so sleeeepy. She went to school today so it looks like we are back on track. BreAnna did very well with her talk on Sunday and I had a full class of nine 12 year olds to teach (my goodness they are so ready to be done with primary...only four more weeks and it'll be January and on to Sunday School w/ YW & YMs.) I do enjoy their participation level but it is also a constant reminding process to keep them in line...they are 12 year old boys and girls need I say more, it's just the age I know. I have enjoyed teaching them but I also have to admit I'm looking forward to a fresh group of kids come January. On a side note: Over the weekend, Matt had a chance which has been the first in a long time to work on his fly rods in the garage which he really enjoys. Spencer is excited that he's making him one and is looking forward to getting some waiters for fishing to keep his legs and feet dry.

November Blessings

November 20, 2008Our FHE "Thankful Turkey," Bre got a phone call the other day asking if she'd give a talk in primary at church on Sunday so we've decided to incorporate Mr. Gobbler into her talk. Monday evening as Matt and I lay in bed, Matt goes "do you know what your daughter did today?" I said, "which one BreAnna?" He said, "yah." I said, "yes, she folded all of the clothes on our floor when I was getting dinner ready without being asked." (I had planned on getting to them after I put the kids to bed since Mondays are typically one of my major folding clothes days but Spencer had a b-day party in the middle of the afternoon that he went to which threw the laundry thing of a bit.) Matt said, "she may have done that but she also tried to pull a fast one over on me." BreAnna knows upon arriving home from work after being welcomed in by eager awaiting hugs and kisses that Matt heads up to use the bathroom and then gets in to take his shower. Well, she must have been bored because not only did she fold the huge mountain of clothes on our bed room floor but she also lined the toilet seat with saran wrap in an attempt to prank her dad. I guess she hid in our bedroom closet waiting for Matt to use the toilet...giggling when he realized the saran wrap, funny girl! Like father, like daughter...if you really know Matt he is constantly trying to pull fast-ones over on those who are close to him. If you don't know Matt well, this may come as a surprise because he may come off a little "straight to the T" at first, but don't let him fool you. The funny thing to me is that you'd think it would take one to know one and that he'd realize when people are doing the same thing back to him (joking around w/ him) but he's really naive when it comes to being the receiver, half the time I have to step in a make him realize that he's being messed or fooled with ...he's such a believing guy, it's cute though. BreAnna now as shy and innocent as she may come off, is totally following in her fathers footsteps. (If only half the people she knows could see the side of her we see at home...)
Ellie seems to have a stream of good luck when it comes to winning things and contests at school, her name was drawn yesterday for the schools "walk to read" program so she got to go over to the office to pick a prize. Pretty cool little girl!
If anyone hasn't gotten the email, this truly does work. We've tested it out on Josh, Ellie and Matt. Coat your feet, put on some socks and sleep soundly...NO MORE COUGHING and aching! And with this time of the year with these cold/coughs that are going around it's a good thing...

Random weekend clips...

November 17, 2008Jarom had shaving lesson 101 (with the blade cover attached of course.)
Ward Chili Cook-Off, I always make chili for this function (Matts really into the competition thing but I make it so my husband will eat, he's kind of particular about what's in his food not to mention being a picky eater and where it was made ect. it's just safer to bring our own when we're speaking home-made.) Anyways, we ended up getting most-original runner up. I put chunks of steak in it this time, I make my chili a bit different every time I make it. Ye-hah!
It's time to Cowboy up! The kids cousins Zoeie, Gavien & Shea came to the chili cook off with us, their parents were moving over the weekend and the kids were all so excited about their new bed rooms!
This is our new daughter Joshia (as adorable of a girl that Josh really does make & as funny as it is, we've told Ellie that she's got to stop dressing him up but no, she strikes yet once again.)
We really aren't trying to out do anyone, seriously I wasn't thrilled about putting the tree up Sunday evening...but Matt and the kids wouldn't give up on begging and begging making me the bad guy. So I finally gave in, I was on the tired side and it's always the mom who seems to end up cleaning the mess left over after any activity...and I know with the tree comes all of the other Christmas decorations along with it. I guess we traditionally put the tree up the day after Thanksgiving & that's next week (when we'll be out of town) so it's really not that early, I was just hoping to wait until after Thanksgiving was over. It's nice to have it up though, the lights are always soothing and relaxing to enjoy in the evening. After Bres sleepover w/ her cousins, she had another slumber party with her friend Hannah and all of her soccer friends. Thanks for emailing the pics Jane! She had a fun time, we picked her up late Sat. night after going over to Maple Valley for the evening since we have early 9am church Sunday morning. The girls all seemed to have a really fun time!

Jaroms News Paper Debut

Jarom made the front cover of the Bonney Lake & Sumner Courier-Herald the day after Veterans Day November 12, 2008. He thought it was pretty cool when he went to school and everyone told him that him and his friend Layton were in the newspaper, we don't subscribe so Matt picked one up that evening- here he is. It says, "Jarom Jackson and Layton Terry, fourth grade students sing in the choir."

GOLOSHES FOR THE RAIN...

Peek a Boo, I SEE YOU!
November 14, 2008I used to think that rain boots around here were only for the kids (it's not like we live on a farm or something...) however, last year I saw these ones and thought they were kind of cute so I picked them up. Let me just explain that buying these rain boots were the absolute best investment ever! I wear them all the time. To check the mail, to take out the trash, to mow the lawn, to make a quick run to the grocery store, to a wet soccer game (I used to slip on a pair of flip flops or slip on shoes for some of these aspects of my life but around here with the never ending wet rain when I'd come back in the house the bottom of my pants/jeans would always be wet...I like my pants on the longer side & wet pants would drive me crazy.) So problem solved, for the quick uses & slipping on of the boots- they slip right over the ends of my pants and I'm out to do a chore and back in the house in no time, they are great and dry pants as a result! I often just leave them by the entry of the door after I slip them off, yesterday Josh decided he'd give them a try as well...they may work a bit better if put on the right foot though.

J.G. Jackson Airlines

Happy 2nd Birthday Josh!
November 2, 2008
Here he is, the Pilot himself Mr. Joshua Glen Jackson aka The Birthday Boy! We had Josh's b-day party on his actual b-day this year which worked out perfect being the Monday evening before Veterans Day (no school the following morning,) also being an "airplane" theme we sent out airline tickets wrapped in a map for the invites. (pictured below but imagine all three stapled together to look like an actual ticket.) Funny enough, we really tried to make the tickets and computer printed envelopes look as official & real as possible; however, it kind of backfired on us since a few tossed the invite away just thinking it was a promotional/junk mail sort...still kind of funny though! Good thing we sent out a flight reminder email the day before the party. The airplane theme was a really easy one to follow we started out with simple air plane snacks & beverages.
A little reminder that there's NO WRESTLING during the flight.
We made paper air planes galore for a competition.
Getting Creative!
Look at that Sleek airplane!
Very Aerodynamic! Paper Airplane Class 101

Straight out of baggage claim we had two packed suitcases full of odds and ends for our second game, two teams had to scramble to dress as fast as they could to beat the other all dressed with an article of clothing found in their luggage.
The mad rush...who packed this wardrobe?
What a cute group of travelers!
Do we look like tourists or what?!
We followed up with you guessed it the candy guessing game and a Airplane crossword puzzle. Uncle Dave & Aunt Stacie won the crossword and Pieper (Uncle Jake and Sarahs little girl won the candy guessing game this round.)
PRESENT TIME!
A cute line of little on lookers watching Josh.
Is it cake time yet????
Look at all these fun presents!
Josh was trying to give one of his presents (a tiger bubble blower from Dave, Stacie, Gavien, Shea and Zoeie) a lick of his lollipop, silly kid.
AWWWHHHH, baby is asleep...now we can sit back, relax & enjoy the flight!
And that's a WRAP!Time for a Happy Birthday w/ aviation cake & icecream!
Make a Wish Little Buddy! MMMMM Good.

Josh was up late parting, all of the sugar from the evening excitement was responsible for that I'm sure. Here he is dancing well kinda more like jamming to this fun CAT digger from cousins Pieper & Kennedy. I know it's side ways but that's the way it downloaded so I couldn't rotate it...but it's funny regardless. I'm not sure who had more fun playing with all of Josh's new fun toys, trucks, planes & trains...him or Spencer. They've had a good time with everything. We had a fun night and Josh had a blast, we are happy and blessed that so much family was able to come celebrate with us! Now Josh fit's the two year old thing officially, he really is a fun kid with a good personality, we all love him and his little self!
