Easter Blessings & Greetings~

Our Easter was a nice Easter at home with the family this year.  We had 9:00 am church so it was good to get our Easter day off to an early start to be able to ponder the blessings of the Atonement and the Resurrection of our Savior Jesus Christ with the whole day devoted to Him. Josh was still pretty yucky in the cold department with a faucet-nose so I didn't want to send him to his primary class since that's always a pet-peeve of mine when parents send their goopy-nosed coughing kids to primary or nursery to contaminate the rest of the kiddos (Brooklynne was the first to bring this sickness home after nursery the week prior) so after Sacrament meeting, Matt made sure that all of his Sunday School classes were good to go then he took Josh and Brooklynne home.  After the rest of the blocks were over the rest of the kids and I headed over to the Bishop's office- my calling got switched up a bit from 2nd counselor to 1st counselor in the primary presidency which is pretty much the same calling for me with the same Sunday responsibilities, callings, meetings with the only change of now I'm over Activity Day Girls vs. Cub Scouts & Nursery- so it was a great switch up being that I've got two Activity Day Girls in our home right now! We landed home around 12:30pm which left the rest of the day to be full of time spent together as a family and traditional Easter joys.  We invited the McClellan family over for dinner and their company was enjoyed as well. We even set the camera on automatic snap mode before we headed out the door in the morning and captured a family picture.  We had the camera set to snap like six pictures in a row (Jarom being the comedian he is thought it would be real funny to give us a variety of crazy-faced expressions in each individual shot so the picture I posted was the only decent one of him, thanks Jarom...that would be a twelve year old boy for you!  And to think I figured it would be one of the little ones we'd have to worry about in trying to get a decent Family Easter picture...)
A little Brotherly Love, isn't that cute?!
The Easter Rabbit Himself~
Easter Bunny Treats, the Easter Bunny never fails in the essentials...new swim suits, socks and underwear- yippy skippy!
Spencer and Josh really posing hard for a picture.
Our littlest Easter Doll, I snapped these pictures prior to Easter on a sunny day when I tried on Brooke's dress to see how it fit.  Even though the sun was out it was super COLD and Brooke wanted nothing to do with smiles.

Splashing on a bit of COLOR upon the EGGS!
Ellie and Spencer racing around.
BreAnna and Brookie finding those eggs.
Ben and Spencer searching high and low.
Jarom, Ava and Brookie checking their eggs for the Golden ones.
The HUNT is on, searching for those eggs~ yep inside the home this year, why you ask?  Because of RAIN, RAIN, and EVEN MORE RAIN!!!!!  Every day for the last I don't know how long it has rained some time through out the day, we get little glimpses of sun and teases of a wonderful sunshiny day but then it's always interrupted with the rain that doesn't seem to want to give in the Mr. Sunshine!
Our Gold Egg Winners: Jarom 1st, Ellie 4th & 5th
Ben 3rd and Nathan 2nd.  Good job and a sugar high for the kids all around...Josh can thank BreAnna for his loot this year.  Not sure what Josh's problem was when the hunt began, a bit of anxiety perhaps from not finding any eggs in years past on egg hunts???  Maybe a combination of that and the fact that he had been sick and was tired from a long weekend but he hid out under the desk in the game room for the entire egg hunt, pouting and sulking to himself, poor kid.  It took us awhile to find him so we were on a hunt of our own- he'd never done anything like that before, anyways- after a bit he snapped out of his tired business and BreAnna was gracious enough to give Josh his fair share of eggs and goodies.  So there we have it,

Email Inbox Titled: "Love Your Ellie"

I just received this "so kind-special" email from one of Ellie's substitute teachers at school earlier this week.  It's things like this that makes being a mother so rewarding.  (I'll keep her name private, but she is a member of our stake and was subbing this day for Ellie's school class and another LDS substitute who is in our ward was subbing for another teacher and they got to talking on their lunch break.)

"I just had to tell you how completely unsurprised I was when (we were chatting while the kids were at 2nd recess) she told me that Ellie is LDS. It made COMPLETE sense to me. Within minutes of meeting the kiddos, I noticed a peace and happiness and light in her eyes that let me know that she was one of the kids I could trust, and I hadn't even seen her self-manager badge yet. :) What a great little girl you have! I could tell that she carries the Spirit with her, that's for sure. It's kind of hard to express how, because there were other kids who were good workers and kind to others, but she...there was just something extra special about her. I was actually tickled to be able to talk to her somewhat privately and tell her, "Hey, is your mom Carla? 'Cause I'm in the BL Ward and I was at her blog class on Saturday!" Her little face just lit up...it was super cute.

Anyway, I'm a mom, too, and I know that it's hard sometimes to send them out the door and hope that you've taught them what they need to know to keep the Spirit with them while they're away, so I just wanted to let you know that you're doing a great job...that Ellie is a terrific girl!

Blessings,

p.s. Thanks for the blog class, btw! Mine had sat neglected for a few months and I've dusted it off and am writing daily now! :)
World peace begins at home!
We think you're pretty Special too Ellie Belle!

A Rainbow of Color

R  a  I  n  B  o  W  s  ...
We had a huge RAINBOW over our home the other day, it was really big and colorful bright and BEAUTIFUL!
These colorful towels that are now hanging on the doors of my children's room, although an eye sore to the proper people~ they are a beautiful rainbow of heaven to a mother who was sick of doing twenty loads of towels in laundry after a hot tub was up and running.  The dark towels are for the hot tub (and once the summer hits outdoor use, sprinklers, pools, water activities and so on) and the light coordinating towel is for the bath and shower use.  They will be hung before and after use and washed every Monday.  Can I get a amen?!
Love the colorful of rainbow assortment of eggs each Easter then not to forget the delicious jelly beans they make these days (the rainbow starburst ones, then the jolly rancher ones are the best!)  They have really came a long ways since the not so tasty ones of my childhood days, I didn't even care for them back then!
Rainbows make us happy~ kind of a few rainbow looking bathing suits...
The colors of the hot tub in a rainbow assortment~ the kids had a fun time testing all of the colors out after filling the tub up for the first time.  The pictures are a bit unusual, I had to turn the flash off to show the colors but I think all of the steam from the bubbles affected the photos, maybe I just have no clue how to use that setting?
These little bunnies are a yearly Easter tradition for the kids, we put the kids bunny next to their updated school pictures each year on the shelf.  It's funny how their bunnies are all so fitting of their individual colorful personalities. April 21, 2011

The "BEE's" of Blogging

The "BEE" Hand Out
Step One: The goodies- Lemon drops, cheap coordinating ribbon, little Wilton baggies, address labels (with the theme printed on them) attached to scrap book paper (cut to size & hole punched.)
Step Two: assemble, as easy as pie!
Step Three: Handouts always look much cuter in an accommodating presentation bowl.
Wallah!
 The little BEE tidbit.
For an added touch: little lemon cupcakes in honey-gold liners, topped with piped lemon frosting and a chocolate covered bee with slivered almond bee body and for the yellow stripes- piped yellow candy melts.
Since my class was in the middle of other classes (before lunch) I felt a bite sized bee treat would be a perfect snack to tie the ladies over until lunch was served.
Ten Reasons To Start a Blog:
1. To Express Your Thoughts and Opinions
2. To Market or Promote Something
3. To Help People
4. To Establish Yourself as an Expert
5. To Connect with People Like You
6. To Make a Difference
7. To Stay Active or Knowledgeable in a Field or Topic
8. To Stay Connected with Friends and Family
9. To Make Money
10. To Have Fun and Be Creative
Last Saturday I was asked to teach a Blogging class at our Stake's Womans Conference.  After touching on and showing what a Blog is all about and how to go about starting one, since Blogging starts with "B" I thought it would be a fun idea to incorporate the six "BEE's" of Blogging into the class. This way I was able to involve some of the class members which is always nice.  I used a volunteer for each of the six "BEE's" then I spotlighted six of the amazing blogs that I follow which are centered around or touch on each of the "BEE" topics, it went over real well and from the feedback I've been receiving, it sounds like the class inspired new blogs and motivated inactive bloggers so the "BEE's" were a success!
The six helpers got to take their wee little "BEE" souvineer home with them.
These bee's are all exactly the same, they are constantly copying each other in every way.  They need to learn to-
Be Yourself:
Your blog is your own and whatever you choose to make it, just be you and put what you have into it.
While this Bee isn't really for real it looks pretty real in comparison to the three copy-cat bees.
Be Real:
Most likely your blog will include your own feelings and opinions in text or commentary, being honest and true to yourself and others is always wise. Let your blog be a reflection of yourself in your own voice.
We aren't supposed to play with balls in the house and thanks to their dad, my kids do play with balls in our home so I am always telling them to be cautious not to break something.  So this Bee ball reminds us to-
Be Cautious:
While your blog is indefinitely your own, always be mindful of potential readers and feelings involved. Setting “official rules” of what to or not to blog about isn‘t necessary, just blog and see what feels comfortable to you.
If we came across a bee that was this gigantic, we would need to be very courageous that we would not get stung!
Be Courageous:
Don’t be shy or afraid to start a blog then likewise when blogging don’t be afraid to make a mistake or embarrass yourself . Take note that you can always go back and edit, change, undo or add to your blog.
This bee pot and these bee gardening tools leave our options wide open to what we might plant inside of the empty pot.
Be Open:
To learning, to gaining knowledge, to new ideas, to teaching, to being an example, to cultivating your talents and passions, to becoming a better you.
Bee's are hard working little creatures who are consistent and determined to make sweet yummy honey for us.
 Be Consistent:
Although there are countless blogs out there you can pull inspiration from, blogging is best learned from blogging. Blog often, even in times of “writers block.” Some of your best posts may stem from when you feel you have nothing to write about.

I had our four years of blogging 2007-2010 that I had bound into books on display to show how nice it is to be able to print your blog out into family history record books (or books pertaining to whatever ones blog may be about.) For myself, of course it's a journaling purpose and it's made journaling and digital photos so fun and easy for our busy lives these days!  So yes, just like a "BEE's" honey- sweet is the success of an active blogger!
