Brooke has been growing and progressing leaps and bounds within what seems to be just the past week or so - seriously since she has been detached from nursing she is so content and has seemed to have found a new sense of independence! Today as I was planning sharing time for primary this Sunday in the dining room area, Josh was watching Sesame Street in the other room and Brooke had helped herself to playing in the little drawers of a secretary that's in our dining room next to the table where I was working. She had found some random little keys (I think they actually lock the secretary now that I think about it.) When I walked across the entry to the den to get some poster board this is what I found Brooke up to, she was trying to unlock the front door with her keys she had found. This is just one of the many new things that Brooke has apparently learned from just watching her family members, to name a few off the top of my head the other day she found one of the girls earings on the floor and she was trying to stick it in her ear, as she was playing in my bathroom drawers as I got ready yesterday she was acting like she was putting on my deodorant under her arms, she combs her hair (or lack of) when she finds a brush, she has folded her arms as we pray before eating for awhile but she now kneels to pray as we say family prayer- the funny thing is that we can't take credit for any of these things- these little things are all on her own, it's so fun as a mother to see your little baby playing out what she has learned (not so much from what we are teaching her but what she observes and takes in, it's fun!) Although she doesn't really say much besides ma ma, da da, ba ba and jibberish baby babbles- she understands so much and knows what we are saying quite often, when you tell her to go get the blankie and little things like that. A month or so back, a cute story: before she knew the concept of "no" one day she thought it was funny to unplug the lamp in my room to turn it off, after a few times of me plugging it back in and her crawling back over to unplug it, I realized that she just wasn't understanding what "no" meant and she thought it was just a big fun game because I got down to her level and looked her in the eyes and said "no, no" and shook my head back and fourth in the "no" motion as I pointed to the plug- she proceeded to point to her "nose." A game we play with her in the mornings when we get her ready as we ask her where her body parts are and she points to them, she just thought I was saying "nose" when I was telling her "no." I just laughed, she now knows (not sure to what extent she understands and maybe it's just the tone of the voice) but for the most part she actually does minds us when we tell her "no, no." Another funny, the other day after we dropped Josh off at preschool, Brooke and I went to run errands for the 2 1/2 hours and as I was talking to Brooke and possibly asking her questions (I honestly don't recall our conversation) as I pushed her in the cart around Walmart and a guy looked at me funny like I was talking to myself and asked "um does she answer you?" I just chuckled, maybe it's because Brookie is a baldie baby and looks too young to have me talking to her, she is a year old...come on I can have a conversation with her right? Ha,ha.

Not to mention that Brooke has now became the BIGGEST CUDDLE BUG! She loves to be held and cuddled and she will just walk or crawl up to her family members and randomly give them and hug and a kiss, seriously it is THE CUTEST THING! I don't remember the others being so lovable and hugable at this age (now 13 mo.) we are all enjoying a bit of her cuddle-bug fever. Also, not sure if I've ever mentioned but she is one of Justin Bieber's biggest fans- she loves to dance to Bre's I-pod to his music, when ever she hears his music she gets so excited, it's kinda funny!
