The Creepy Crawly Candy Spidey Family

For family night Monday night we did our annual "Spooking" our friends and neighbors FHE.  We added a fun craft to the goodie bags this year, a cute spider treat that I saw on display at church (I actually think it was something that they are doing for Super Saturday) it looked easy enough so I picked up the supplies after Matt and I's date night a few weeks back to put it into the plan.  I may have posted the poem we wrote in the years past but here it is: (We wanted a poem where the neighbors didn't feel obligated to reciprocate the "spooking" to others since many require you to do so.)
YOU’VE BEEN SPOOKED
The Air is Crisp
The Season is Fall
Soon Halloween will come to All
The Ghosts are Out
The Gobblins Too
With many scary tricks to play on You
But don’t be frightened
Over this little Spook
For it’s not a cast or a Spell
It’s only to wish you All
A Happy Halloween and Well
Now take the Treats
Gobble them up Everyone
And remember on Halloween night
To be ever so safe and have so much Fun!!!!
As always the kids had a fun thrill with ringing the doorbells and running or hiding until the bags were picked up from the front porches and brought into the homes.  We finished the night off with a fun Halloween colored refreshment to set the tone for the month.  On a side note: notice Spencer with his gun he made from extra pipe cleaners...he's all boy and that's so him, anywhere we go he seems to make or find some sort of gun or weapon like thing to play with. He's not mean or destructive in any way with his toy weapons, he's a very well behaved little boy he loves to play with his action figures and army guys ect.  When we went to the Ocean notice the first thing he picked up...a piece of beach wood in the form of a gun, no wonder he has wanted to be a Cop (with a mustache) when he grows up since he was three years old, that's our Spencer!

What a fun way to spend your Monday night/family home evening... Those creepy, crawly, candy spiders sure were creative. It's so much fun watching kids get a thrill out of door bell ditching.

Cute! Tell me how you constructed your spiders. The grandkids would love that! I did some with craft supplies years ago that are cute, but they aren't edible. Also, what's in your treat cups? Us girls' have a craft/baking day once a month and the grandkids are usually there with us, so I'm always looking for new ideas. Your family is so cute!
