Follow In His Footsteps...

Friday June 11, 2010
Friday evening, we had a Primary Activity entitled "Follow In His Footsteps" for church.  It was a activity centered around Jesus Christ and his ministries and life on earth. We had five different stations set up and followed an outline that Noelle (our Primary Pres) found online on Sugardoodle I believe, these consisted of The Miracle of The Loaves & Fishes, The Fishers of Men, The Foolish & Wise Man, The Lost Coin/ & Sheep, and a Video/Testimony of Jesus Christ.  We divided the kiddos up into five groups that were set apart by the color of foot that was on their bag and they put their little hand outs or goodies from each station into their bags then they rotated stations every 10 min. following their leader w/ their coordinating Big Colored Foot. Each member of the presidency and the singing coordinator did a station and we wore Togas to show the kids what type of clothes Jesus and the people in that time kinda wore.  It was a sucessful activity (although I really didn't get too many pics since I was busy manning my station the majority of the time.) But we got quite a bit of good feed back saying it was the "best primary activity ever" from some of the primary teachers and even my own kids (Jarom being one of them which surprised me since he didn't exactly want to go at first... being a Friday night he wanted to play outside w/ his friends before hand.) I think it was a good distribution of more reverent/spiritual parts and fun parts for the kids.  We ended the activity with foods that Jesus would have eaten back then fish, bread w/ honey (butter), grapes, cheese, and olives.

More silly weekend fun...
Not sure what this is all about? Kinda looks like Strawberry shortcake make up job gone bad with a unibrow...strange!
Bre and Hannah helped Jarom carry his friend Nathan's b-day sleepover presents over to his house, a pair of big pillows in Seahawks colors to match his bedroom attire...fun idea but kinda hard to wrap those things!

How sweet are these TWO dolls?
We snapped these pictures of Booke and her cousin Jill at the cousins (Naomi & Noelle's) 6th b-day party bash.  The little gals were kinda wearing coordinating colors (Brooke's bloomers don't show in the pic but they matched Jill's dress with the smaller checkers) so it was cute!

Someone is on the prowl...

June 8, 2010
As of Tuesday last week (June 1st), our little baby is mobile....as the mom I'm having mixed emotions about the whole concept, Brooke was attempting to stick her little finger into the electrical outlet the other day, time to baby proof once again! Watch out, we've got a CRAWLER on the loose!
I felt I should document this milestone in Brooklynne's first year happenings but I've got a bit of catching up to do in the blogging dept., June has proved to be a busy month already and we are just at the beginning (as the norm with plenty of end of the school year festivities, birthday parties, baptisms, meetings, graduations, weddings, recitals, you name it...it's on our calendar this month...)we'll post pics when time allows. We also had a enjoyable time over Memorial Day weekend at my parents over in Couer d' Alene, we had our fare share of family fun with a bit of skating, swimming, hands on art making pottery, shopping, we hit up Triple Play for the games and bowling and had a good visit with our friends the McLuskies and the Balls, we made smores with gigantic marshmellows, Matt and I got a night to ourselves so we went to the newest restaurant in town Texas Roadhouse for a good steak and stayed at a hotel for the evening which was nice.  Josh was in heaven with all of grandma's cool toys and trains and after we got home he was ready to turn around and drive back the 4 1/2-5 hours to do it all over again. The cemetary over in Cd'A was full of raised American flags and colorful flowers in remembrance of the Veterans who fought for our country and our freedom.  The weather was rainy but we had intended on the RAIN so we pretty much planned around it.  The clouds and the sunset on the drive back home Monday evening were breathe-taking, we took quite a few really pretty pics to capture the scenery and beauty.

You know when you've outgrown your pjs when...

The News was there and here's a clip that King 5 aired that evening, pretty neat.
The Open House helped to spread the info on the company and it was a success along with a fun & educational event for everyone!

Flowers for a bit of Sunshine on a RAINY day!

May 26, 2010
Over the weekend, our family did quite a bit more of yep' you guessed it...yard work.  It was fun for all of us on Saturday, we planted a nice variety of color in the yard both front and back.  We ripped out these horrible bee magnetic shrubs in the front yard and replaced them with a better selection and filled the planters that we made on the sides of the garden with some color as well.  I can't wait for the colorful roses the kids picked out to blossom and bloom!  The on again, off agin rain made the out door work a bit challenging but we worked around it and got everything we wanted to accomplished.
With the flowers come the birds, these little yellow birdies have been all over, they are so cute but super fast in the flying department and kinda hard to catch with the camera!
We finished planting the garden the other week, this LITTLE garden has been so fun!  Not only will it be nice when the rewards of our efforts are fully grown and ready to eat but this garden though SMALL (there's only so much room in our backyard) has really been a fun project to bring the family together working on it and watching the little seedings sprout.
Ellie's friend Emma is turning eight so we followed in the flower theme this weekend putting these fun summer beach baskets with a splash of fake yellow flowers we had on hand into the mix!
Then there's out little FLOWER brookie herself, can't forget her! Colorful flowers can always brighten a rainy day....

Matt's Thirty Six!

May 18, 2010

Tuesday we celebrated Matt's b-day a bit lower key since we already had his big party Sunday.  His World CNG team treated Matt to a special b-day celebration and Mexican lunch then after work the family hit up Costco to renew our membership and do a bit of shopping.  Matt picked out a power washer for an added b-day present and treated the kids to a new tether ball set which they have LOVED playing at school over the years and now they finally have one to play at home!
Since we were kinda caked out still, I decided on these chocolate covered strawberries for Matt's b-day cake, they were big, plump and delicious...just perfect! After the kids played some tetherball, we sang happy b-day and the kids ate their free pizza we scored at Costco, they headed for bed for the night and I made Matt a nice steak and salad for his b-day dinner.
Since Matt loves Spaghetti & Meat Balls, I decided on an Italian theme this year.  With the great help of the mothers of the family, we threw a surprise party on Sunday after church.  Matt had no clue and we had everyone there when we arrived home from church at 4pm.  I had picked up the heat and serve breadsticks and Matt's fav salad dressing the day before at the Olive Garden, made the salads before church, my mom made Matt's fav pasta Olive Garden soup, and Matt's mom came set up our decorations and cooked the noodles we had hid in the closet, set up the party and brought the cake and spaghetti w/meat balls, it was great...couldn't have done it w/o the help- thanks to all!
It's always fun to get together as a family for a birthday party or any fun or special occassion for that matter!  Matt ended up with some fun camping gear, golf gear, a new smoothie maker, and some of his favorite snacks.
Matt managed to blow out all 36 candles in one breathe, let's hope it was a good wish that will be coming true this year!  Happy b-day hon, I love you more than words can express- you are an awesome man, the best husband, father and best friend~ xoxoxoxoxo!
