May Moments

May 2016
No, it's not a forest fire...it's Matt's 42nd B-day Birthday Candles a burning. Happy B-day Hon!
We had a fun B-day Party Dinner with games to celebrate #42 with Matt.
We had Grandma and Grandpa and Maddy and Joe (Bre and Jarom's friends join in the family celebration).
 Fun and Games.
We had to document that Jarom actually won a raffle prize (it's tradition that his number never gets called when we play family games or bingo.)
Matt catching up with his parents after dinner.
Matt showing his mom how to test out his new massage chair.
Ice Cream Cake.
Lighting all the candles. I'm pretty sure Matt had a good b-day as he is very much enjoying his big birthday present now parked in our garage that we finally got cleared out for an actual car to park in (after 9 years.)
 Grandma Noble and Saydee.
Grandma and Grandpa Noble stopped in for an evening after they came up for my cousin Brittany's baby blessing awhile back. The kids were SO EXCITED all day long in anticipation of when they would arrive. They said it's just like Christmas when Grandpa Noble comes.
They visited the week before Mother's Day so we were able to do a little tribute to Grandma when she was here in person which is so much nicer than sending something in the mail for her special day.
Shoes, shoes, I love them shoes!
Saydee has proven to follow in her big sister Brooklynne's footsteps literally...in her shoes which she is constantly in. They both love their shoes and heels!
And the tap shoes.
The sunset was really pretty on Angel Moroni one evening after a temple visit.
Matt and I took Brooklynne with us to a 50th Wedding anniversary for Lora and Bruce Whitmarsh who are a couple in our ward. It was a pretty impressive evening.
My Visiting Teaching Partner Cari Burdette did the decorations which were super amazing, with their whole family tree of their six children and their children and then some.
Lora's wedding dress from 50 years ago, very fun!
 Memories for the couple.
The Boys at Matt's fav place the Outback with Cheese Fries and a Bloomin Onion. The Diet starts next week.
Jarom and Maddy went to Seattle last weekend with Bre and Joe. Looks like they hit some of the popular Seattle Landmarks with the Gum Wall, Ferris Wheel, Pike Place and The Troll for some pics.
Joe had state for track and I guess Bonney Lake HS did really well barely missing a place to go further in competitions.
Looks like happy times for the kids.
 Spencer in action.
A few pics of Spencer's last Flag football game that Sumner won!
 A fun season,
Talent Show Pics from the YW talent show.
 Years Through a YW's Life.
 Fun times.
I downloaded my pics from my camera awhile back and these were one's Matt took on our camera so just catching up again.
We are FAMILY!
 Jarom and Maddy
Bre and Joe (with kleenex up his nose due to a bloody nose) trying to put a bow in Bre's hair.
This was no fun...every time after Saydee went into the nursery at church she would get sick, a yucky cold or come down with a fever and this was the results of our third attempt at the nursery. So not fun...HORRIBLE in fact. Calamine lotion was a lifesaver that we kept her slathered in constantly reapplying.
Needless to say it was a SLEEPLESSLY long, painful, itchy week.
SO SAD! By day three things were starting to scab over and we were able to soak her in oatmeal baths which she didn't like at first but got used to and then she was happy.

She is back to her happy camper self now, just has a lot of scars that are more apparent when she is cold when they turn purple that will fade over time I'm sure :)
and she's even talented with the mascara brush...look mom!
and the scooter.
Ellie picked up this water fish filled mattress for Saydee that her, Spencer and Saydee along with the neighbor kids all had fun on.

Peanut blossom Cookies

This morning, I clicked on my side roll to see a relative on Matt's side (Suzanne Spicker's blog, "Sewing The Seeds" that I love to peek in on every now and then for her most beautiful flowers- and on her side roll were these recipes that I wanted to jot down to try when I have some extra time. So I cut and pasted them and decided I'd too post them in for easy access to find them for myself and also in case anyone else out there wanted to give them a try since they look fairly easy and delicious! Maybe a few variations for Father's Day coming up next month. Thank you Suzanne and everyone else enjoy as I hope to!

THREE VARIATIONS of the POPULAR PEANUT BLOSSOM COOKIES

My mother's maiden name is Hirschi--pronounced the same as the famous HERSHEY CHOCOLATES.  The story has it that four brothers immigrated to America from Switzerland; two traveled west, and kept their Swiss name spelled the same.  The other two brothers stayed back east, changed the spelling of their last name to a more phonetic one--Hershey--and the rest is history.  A joke my mother's family has always had is that they were "raised on Hirschi (Hershey) kisses!"  She says that's why she loves chocolate so much!  The PEANUT BLOSSOM COOKIE, a delicious peanut butter cookie, with a HERSHEY KISS pressed in the center, has been one of America's most popular cookies, making the top ten for the last several years, and one of our favorites, of course.  Here is the original recipe, along with two other variations; one for a chocolate Mini Kiss Chocolate Blossom, and one for a Tuxedo Brownie Blossom, using HERSHEY HUGS and a brownie mix.  All are easy to make, and FUN to eat!

ORIGINAL PEANUT BLOSSOM COOKIES
1 bag (8 oz.) HERSHEY'S KISSES chocolates
1/2 cup shortening
3/4 cup creamy or chunky peanut butter
1/3 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
1 large egg
2 Tablespoons milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 1/2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
(granulated sugar to taste)
Preheat oven to 375 degrees.  Remove wrappers from KISSES.  Beat shortening and peanut butter in large bowl until well blended.  Add 1/3 cup granulated sugar and brown sugar; beat until fluffy.  In another bowl, whisk together the egg, milk and vanilla; beat into sugar mixture.  Stir together flour, baking soda, and salt; gradually beat into sugar mixture.  Shape dough into 1" balls.  Roll in granulated sugar; place on lightly greased cookie sheet.  Bake 8-10 minutes, or until lightly browned.  Immediately press a chocolate KISS into center of each cookie; cookie will crack around the edge.  Remove from cookie sheet to wire rack.  Cool completely.  Makes about 4 dozen cookies.

MINI KISSES CHOCOLATE BLOSSOMS
1 cup butter, softened
1 1/2 cup sugar
2 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 cups flour
1/2 cup cocoa
1/2 teaspoon salt
additional sugar
1 3/4 cups (10-oz pkg.) HERSHEY MINI KISSES
Beat butter, 1 1/2 cups sugar. eggs and vanilla in large bowl until fluffy.  Combine flour, cocoa and salt; gradually add to butter mixture, beating until well blended.  Refrigerate dough about an hour or until firm enough to handle.  Heat oven to 350 degrees.  Shape dough into 1 1/8" balls; roll in additional sugar.  Place on UNGREASED cookie sheet.  Bake 8-10 minutes or until set.  Remove from oven.  Place 3 MINI KISSES on each cookie, pressing down lightly.  Remove from cookie sheet to wire rack.  Cool completely.  Makes about 4 dozen cookies.

TUXEDO BROWNIE HUGS COOKIES
About 60 HERSHEY'S HUGS Chocolates
1 pkg (1 lb 6.5 oz) Original Supreme Brownie mix with Syrup pouch
1/4 cup cocoa
1/4 cup water
1/4 cup vegetable oil
2 large eggs
Remove wrappers from HUGS.  Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  Grease well and flour cookie sheet or line with parchment paper.  Stir brownie mix, pouch of Hershey's Syrup, cocoa, water, oil and eggs in medium bowl until well blended.  Drop by scant teaspoons onto prepared cookie sheet.  Bake 8 minutes or until set.  Cool 1 minute.  Press HUG into center of each cookie.  Remove from cookie sheet to wire rack.  Makes about 5 dozen cookies.

Happy Birthday Big Boy...

May 17, 2016
Matt is all smiles when it comes to his new "Hot Rod Big Boy Toy" that he got for his 42nd Birthday (that's tomorrow). The younger boys are equally just as happy about dad's toy.
Matt has been talking about getting one of these ever since we got married.
So we figured, he's not getting any younger.
And there's no time like the present (call it mid-life lol) where he's old enough to drive it responsibly yet still young enough to really get some use and enjoyment out of it.
Happy Birthday Hon, enjoy your new Corvette :)
